Last Wednesday night I left, all by myself, to go up to BYU to Women's Conference. Layne's mom came and watched the kids during the day on Thursday and Friday while he was at work and the rest of the time he was the sole zookeeper! I met my long time friend and fellow troublemaker Melissa up there where we stayed at her aunt's house. The conference was all day Thursday and Friday and was packed full of great classes. Of course, Melissa and I stayed up until about 3 a.m. both nights catching up (I haven't laughed that hard in forever!) so we didn't quite make it to all the sessions we had planned. We also met up with my dear friend Jennifer from Cedar City at some sessions so I got in a couple of quick (too quick) visits with her. At Friday afternoon's closing session the speaker was Pres. Thomas S. Monson. What a treat to hear in person such comforting and inspiring words from the prophet! My favorite moment was when he walked into the Marriott center, full of 20,000+ women, and everyone stood ~ it was completely quiet. Then someone spontaneously started singing "We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet" and everyone joined in. It was really special and I am grateful I had the opportunity to be there with such good friends. I am especially grateful I have the most wonderful husband who didn't complain once, took care of everything at home, and has already encouraged me to go ahead and make this a yearly tradition...thanks Layne!
