Sweet as it is, it also helps me to get through those days. Ya know the ones I mean...

The days when not one minute goes by that someone needs something right this minute.
The days that just when you think everyone is well, someone starts throwing up.
The days when you come home and the baby has spilled goldfish, or Pringles, or something crunchy and greasy on the floor and the other kids have stepped in it and ground it into your nice carpet.
The days when the laundry is literally everywhere and there aren't enough hours in the week to get it all done; plus, for some reason people think they need to wear clothes every day and make more laundry.

So, Delaney wanted me to color her hair. And while I was at it I asked her if she wanted me to give her a little trim. Now, I know I have no knack for haircutting, but I thought, her cut is so basic, I could just trim off the ends - no problem. But then I realized how overly long her bangs were and I asked her if I could trim those for her since I had just done my own and they turned out (basically) fine. How hard could it be? Well...look what happened.

When I realized what had happened, I dreaded letting her look in the mirror, but, of course, I had to. I was expecting shock, screaming, tears ~ I mean she is a teenager after all. You know what she did? She laughed. Hysterically. Not like she was frantic-hysterical, but just rolling-on-the-floor-laughing-out-loud kind of laughing. She just said "Oh well" and proceeded to clip her bangs back and go on with her life. I love that girl.

Look-a-likes

Look at this picture of Everett and then the picture of Nash when he was about the same age! People always tell me Ev is a total Nash look-a-like but with red hair, although I never could see it myself until I saw this picture (thanks Mom for sending it!)

And then there's this set of pics - my sister-in-law Allyn called once when she was watching Dennis The Menace and said that Nash looks just like 'Dennis'! I could definitely see the resemblance between those two, not to mention the sometimes similar behavior! :)

What we've been up to...

It's summertime finally (it hasn't snowed in about two weeks) so guess what we've been doing...

Yep - we planted our garden this past weekend. We planted banana peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes (3 varieties), broccoli, watermelon, zucchini and squash. From seed we planted peas, carrots, corn, and cauliflower. Also from seed we planted a bunch of pumpkins. Check out the pics - I know, it looks like mostly dirt right now, but really there's stuff getting ready to sprout in there!





We also worked on some landscaping in our front yard. Layne ~ dear husband that he is ~ moved a BIG rock that we have in our yard...ya know, the decorative kind. It wasn't easy, but through trial and error, and the help of some strong neighbors, he got it from one side of the yard to the other, where I just had to have it! Then I planted some flowers and ground cover around it, and soon will plant some Quaky Aspens behind. I am happy because I have been wanting to do this for a while, but figuring out how to move that rock was causing us to not get it done. Here are some pictures:
